It meets the Forest Service Specification 5100-355E “PULASKI TOOL” of the US Forest Service, with
the following characteristics:
Head: Forged from a single piece of 1080 high carbon tempered steel, weighs between 1,672 kg. and
1.871 kg. It measures 33.02 cm long. + 0.635 cm. From the edge of the ax to the edge of the hoe by
its middle part, provided with an eye for the insertion of the handle at 2.54 cm. from the eye of the
head the hardness.
Ax: The frontal plane (Ax), is vertical slightly curved along its edge of 11.43 + 0.31 cm in length; Its
hardness is between 53 and 58 on the Rockwell C scale, this hardness extends horizontally up to
3.175 cm + 0.635 cm from the cutting edge inwards.
Hoe: The posterior plane (Hoe), is horizontal, slightly inclined towards the handle and measures 14.0
cm in length; Its hardness is between 53 and 58 on the Rockwell C scale, its hardness extends
horizontally up to 5.08 cm + 0.635 cm from the cutting edge inward, in addition to having a cutting
edge between 30 and 45 degrees
Handle: It is straight, made of walnut wood, elliptical, resistant to high impact, without notches,
without splinters, (polished and varnished in natural color), and without handles or trims, it has a
length of 91.44 cm + 1.0 cm the end of the user It is of the flat - even type, while the end of the socket
is of the insert type, firmly fixed to the head.
